Fall English Language Learning (ELL/ESL) Course/Curso de Ingles de Otoño
Want to learn English? This twice-a-week course will help you in talking to your supervisors, your children's teachers, neighbors, doctors and more. Classes are taught in small groups. They include speaking and writing, listening and conversation, vocabulary and grammar, and cultural understanding. This class meets every Monday and Wednesday starting September 8th through December 17th . Space is limited. Participants are encouraged to attend every session. Pumpkin Painting
Come paint a petrifying pumpkin, a goofy gourd or cute Cucurbita!
Pumpkins and paint will be provided. For children ages 10+ and any accompanying adults.

Fall Bird Walk
Join Jenny at the Dunning branch for a morning bird walk at the Dunning Read Natural Area (Park 601). We will be joined by Matt at DNRA and Robyn from the Chicago Ornithological Society. We'll try to spot raptors, woodpeckers, kinglets, creepers, sparrows, rabbits, squirrels, and the resident coyote. Binoculars will be provided. We will meet next to the sign for the DNRA parking lot.

Fall Fest at Athletic Field
Celebrate autumn with ponies, a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, Harvest Café & Grill, and so much more. This affordable, family-friendly festival is a Northwest Side tradition that brings neighbors together. Tickets available on the day of the event. The South Chicago DÌa de Los Muertos Workshops and Ofrenda Walk is a series of art-making open to all ages. Every Saturday in October, families will have the opportunity to create objects related to Dia de Los Muertos. We will be at Steelworkers, Bessemer and Schafer parks with a different project each time. Our culminating event will be at Schafer Park in partnership with the Urban Growers Collective, where we will host a communal altar and ofrendas created by neighborhood artists. There will be a talk on the meaning and importance of this tradition.

Arts and Crafts: Learning Lines and Textures
Children can drop by this fall and make a collage exploring lines and textures. Celebrating the artwork of American and Mexican artist, Elizabeth Catlett, children will create a textured collage using various materials. The object is to create a unique piece of art, focusing on family or something they are passionate about. Children can also draw a picture on scratch art. The Artist's Studio at the Library provides family art-making opportunities designed in partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago. For ages 6 and up.

Join our community as we come together to build a shared altar in celebration of Día de los Muertos. Bring a photo or item of a loved one to place on the altar. Create beautifully decorated candles and sugar skulls to honor your ancestors. In this special workshop, we will combine creativity and remembrance as participants craft personalized candles and adorn more sugar skulls to contribute to our Día de los Muertos community Altar. Hosted at PODER HQ

Join The Alliance 98 for their Fall Fest Kickback: "Dia de los Muertos Tiendita pop-up" in collaboration with My CHI. My Future. Dia de los Muertos at Marquette
Join us for a celebration of Day of the Dead at Marquette Park Cultural Center! Dia de los Muertos/ Day of the Dead is a community celebration honoring and celebrating the lives of loved ones that have passed away. Performances, games, and community resources for the whole family! This will mark the final day to see diversion, an art exhibition highlighting Southwest side artists, organized by Anchor Curator-in-Residence, Carlos Flores. Anchor is stewarded by the Chicago Park District and funded by Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Builders Initiative, and Walder Foundation. Days of the Week: Friday #ChicagoFallFest

Centro Romero Haunted House
Come walk through a spooky haunted house created by the Centro Romero's high school youth program. You will be guided by staff through our gallery and walk down to the basement area. The walk should last 7-10 minutes.

45th Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration
Rooted in Mexican tradition, Dia de los Muertos is a joyous occasion to celebrate life and honor the memory of loved ones who have passed away. Join SGA, along with our partners After School Matters and the Chicago Park District for this FREE and longest-running Dia de los Muertos celebration in the City of Chicago. Your whole family will enjoy an evening of spectacle and ancestral remembrance with FREE face painting, performances, music, refreshments, and the highly anticipated community procession.
Bring your walking shoes, your muertos-inspired attire, and/or your own mobile ofrenda. We'll fill the neighborhood with joy and laughter!
Day of the Dead LIVE!
Day of the Dead LIVE! takes you on a musical journey that is all FUN, celebrating Día de los Muertos, the holiday of family remembrance. With diabolical music from classical and popular composers, Mexican and European, this is a one-hour piano and puppet performance boasting larger-than-life characters, including jugglers, stilt-walkers, ghosts, skeletons, and dancers. It's a witty, wild, cultured romp and the ultimate family reunion ‚Äîwith dearly departed ancestors as the guests of honor!Music is performed by the virtuoso pianist Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner. The merry life-sized puppets and direction from the circus-trained aerialist Juanita Cardenas. Join us for our Halloween spooktacular on the Chicago River. Dressing up is a must, and there will be prizes for the best costumes! We will wear headlamps as we paddle down the beautiful landscape of the Chicago River. Children must be at least three years of age and children under 35 lbs will need to bring their own life vest. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the program. Your registration fee covers rental of all equipment plus instruction. Based at the River Park Boathouse, the Chicago Park District's RiverLab program is a series of educational events and activities dedicated to reconnecting residents of Chicago with their river.
